Broad Content:
The role of the Test Architect is to formulate an integrated test architecture that supports the testing process and leverages the available testing infrastructure. To fulfil this role the Test Architect must have a clear understanding of the short-term and long-term goals of the organization, the resources (both hard and soft) available to the organization, and a clear vision on how to most effectively deploy these assets to form an integrated test architecture. Symbian OS is a 32-bit, object-orientated operating system written in C++ by Symbian that is subject to ongoing development.!
The Test Architect of IDP may be expected to conceptualise, design (internally or externally) and implement test environment, startegies and procedures for various components developed by the IDP team.
Key Tasks:
The Test Architect is responsible technically for the test, Verification and Validation for all work developed within the IP Data Protocols (IDP) Team. The job holder will work closely with the development project managers and development TAs within IDP to ensure that the relevant test approach and planning is good and supports the global test strategy in addition to the specific test and verification requirements of the specific technology.
The Test Architect in a stream has ultimate technical authority and responsibility for the ongoing quality, performance and functional correctness for the technology. The role is supported by one or more technology leads within the test capability of the team and reports directly to the IDP Engineering Manager. Key responsibilities:
Owns and develops the testing strategy within the technology stream
Is proactive in identifying ways to improve test coverage, automation and quality
Engages customer and partners to identify alpha and beta trial opportunities, and liaises with them to ensure that test strategy is coherent and complementary.
Supports the development of the test plan for each project
Owns the test code
Contributes to the quality plan
Responsible for Test Escape Analysis and input and response to defect prediction
Responsible for refining requirements to ensure testability
Ownership of the test specification for each project remains with the Test Architect
The role is also responsible to and supported by the Chief Test Architect within the wider Core Technology Development(CTD)Group and the Test ARchitect of the Converged Comm(CoCo) , both of which IDP forms a part. The CTA provides independent accountability and an escalation path to ensure that quality and test are not significantly compromised by project pressures within the development team and is also responsible for ensuring that a consistent approach is supported within the CTD group.
